IT Project Manager – University of Salford


The University of Salford are a leading provider of Higher Education in the North West of England and they are currently going through an exciting period of digital transformation. This digital transformation is seen as a key component of their wider change programme, so they are looking for highly motivated individuals to contribute to this process. The successful candidate will be expected to support a range of IT projects, delivering successfully to time and budget requirements. The position reports to the Head of Digital Projects and would be expected to work within a variety of project teams.

Role Requirements

  • Help deliver projects successfully to time, cost and quality expectations.

  • Help define project plans and schedules, ensuring that progress is tracked against plan throughout.

  • Identify, manage and report on project dependencies, milestones, critical path and potential risks and issues, ensuring that appropriate mitigation strategies and contingency plans exist.

  • Ensure full governance and compliance to digital IT project standards.

  • Communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with those involved in projects

  • Ensure that projects are always customer orientated, putting University students first at all time.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Project management practitioner certification.

  • Experience of supporting project delivery, both IT and change.

  • Experience of working within a variety of methodologies, structured and more agile.

  • Experience of interacting with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Good understanding of project governance and control.

  • Ideally experience of working within Higher Education or Private Sector institutions.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
