Scrum Master Introduction Wakefield and District has a captivating history and is most famous for its rich mining, textile and agricultural heritage. The council is on a mission to deliver an outstanding experience for the c340,000 residents and 8,000 employees. The latest technology has been procured and plans to deliver a number of key projects which will improve customer experience, workforce management and deployment, business intelligence and collaboration with partners have been put in place. Overall Purpose of the Post: The recruitment of a talented Scrum Master forms an integral part of the plot in Wakefield Council’s journey in to the Digital Age. As the organisation strives to become more Agile, few will play a more important role than that of the Scrum Master. You will be tasked with leading, organising and motivating Agile project delivery work on complex software development projects. There are critical systems currently in situ that will need to be upgraded with bespoke systems. These will be built in-house and expanded in to other Council areas, providing teams across the organisation with sustainable, robust systems that are fit for purpose, improving internal ways of working and improving the services on offer to the residents of Wakefield. As the Scrum Master, you will be given full ownership of your role and be deeply involved within the process of scoping and prioritising the key software development projects to be delivered throughout this period of transformation. You will coach Product Owners and the Development Team on Agile and work with them to ensure the delivery of exciting products that will offer real business value and be impactful to the people of Wakefield. Responsibilities: * Lead multi-functional Agile teams on a range of complex IT Projects * Coach and Mentor team members to accelerate their Agile development * Lead Agile ceremonies e.g. Sprint Planning, Stands Ups, Sprint Reviews, Backlog Refinement * Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts and the Development Team on INVEST User Stories, to size sprints and develop roadmaps * Create a constructive working environment in which delivery teams can thrive * Build a culture of continuous reflection and improvement We are looking to speak to strong influencers with demonstratable experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Lead. You will have experience of leading technical teams to successfully deliver complex IT systems. You will also be an excellent communicator, with the ability to coach technical teams and the wider organisation in Agile. Essential Experience: * Leading and coaching multi-disciplinary Agile teams to successfully deliver software development projects * Comprehensive understanding of Agile ceremonies and how to lead them * Working with Product Owners on backlogs, prioritisation and planning * Strong understanding of Agile project management, lean tools and techniques * Managing stakeholders at all levels, facilitating discussions about delivery plans, risks and constraints * Good knowledge of Agile or Development management tools E.g.
