Part-Time Project Manager | 6 Months | Hybrid (Edinburgh)

Harvey Nash's client is recruiting for a Project Manager for an initial period of 6 months. Ideally, the candidate can start within the next two weeks.

The Project Manager will be responsible for day-to-day overseeing the management of the project and must be competent in managing five key aspects of a project, i.e. scope, schedule, risk, quality and resources, and possess strong communication and people management skills.

This role will report to the Chief Executive. The focus of the role will be to project manage the implementation of a set of recommendations, following a review of the organisation.

The recommendations will pivot the organisation into a new direction which will see the client become a leader in sector development and a centre for excellence to grow the environmental, economic and social benefits of a healthy and thriving design sector in Scotland.

The role will project manage the implementation of those recommendations across the whole organisation to enhance delivery effectiveness and safeguard outcomes. The organisation has an outline plan in place for this work as well as other project resources including a risk register.

It is anticipated that the role will require 2.5 day per week over the next 6 months, subject to review.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support project team members and internal suppliers to plan what work needs to be done, when and who's going to do it
  • Ensure the risks involved in a particular project are assessed effectively and support colleagues to manage these risks
  • Ensure the work is done to the right standard
  • Motivate the team of people involved in the project
  • Ensure the project is running on time
  • Employ change control in the project as and when necessary
  • Ensure the project delivers the expected outputs and benefits
  • Ensure effective formal/informal and internal/external communication plans and approaches to meet objectives
  • Report on project delivery in line with local, corporate requirements
  • To note: there is NO budget to manage within this project.

  • Project Managers should have or be closely working towards a professional level qualification, such as APM's PMQ, PMI's PMP and Axelos' Prince 2.
  • Project Managers should consider full membership of APM to provide monitored ongoing professional development.
  • Project Managers should have significant experience of working in a PPM role and have at least previously focussed on the delivery of significant elements of projects or workstreams, or project delivery products such as benefits, risk & issue management and business cases.
