Advanced Network Technical Specialist| Outside IR35| Hybrid (Livingston)
Harvey Nash's Client is recruiting for an Advanced Network Technical Specialist on a contract running until 31st March 2026.
The client is looking for some with strong experience across data, firewall, and IPT environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in:
- Avaya/Extreme switching, Avaya CM & Aura IPT, Avaya Identity Engines
- Checkpoint, Fortigate, Cisco ASA firewalls
- SolarWinds NMP, Windows Server/Desktop, Active Directory
- PSN compliance, VRF networks, and local authority infrastructure
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver technical solutions and resolve issues within project timelines
- Perform root cause analysis and contribute to platform improvements
- Support security monitoring, forensic investigations, and vulnerability reporting
- Collaborate with project teams to design, test, and implement IT solutions
- Mentor staff, manage technical documentation, and ensure service reliability
- Engage with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure platform performance
Key Skills
- Extensive IT experience in the analysis, design, implementation and support within a technical specialism.
- Extensive experience with Avaya/Extreme Wireless and Ethernet data networking switching.
- Extensive experience with Fortinet and Checkpoint firewalls.
- Experience in contributing to project delivery and tasks
- Experience in the assessment and application of IT security controls and vulnerability management
- Ability to make sound decisions and prioritise work for self
- Comprehensive analytical skills to comprehend complex technical designs and system performance information
- Ability to undertake problem solving to root cause
- Ability to produce meaningful and concise written reports
- Knowledge and application of ITIL
- Knowledge and understanding of PRINCE2 Project Management methodology
- Knowledge of IT Service Continuity procedures
This role falls outside of IR35 and is hybrid working with the expectation to attend the Livingston office on a regular basis, there may also be some other travel to offices required.
