Research Officer
Location: Edinburgh (occasional travel to other offices) | Contract: 6 months | Rate: £250/day (Inside IR35)
Our client are seeking a temporary Research Officer who will be required to provide research support and analysis to a Principal Research Officer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and analysis of qualitative research, with a particular focus on conducting in-depth interviews with members of the judiciary. The role will also involve drafting project reports, preparing written briefings, and delivering presentations to senior office holders.
What you'll do:
- Design and conduct qualitative interviews with members of the judiciary, in consultation with senior research staff.
- Analyse qualitative data and prepare evidence-based findings.
- Identify and liaise with suitable candidates for interview, arranging appropriate meeting times.
- Prepare written reports, project summaries, and literature reviews.
- Present findings in both written and oral form to senior stakeholders.
- Provide ad hoc research support as required.
What you'll need:
- Undergraduate degree (or equivalent experience).
- Research-based postgraduate qualification, or equivalent research experience.
- A minimum of three years' research experience or a postgraduate degree in a social research discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in the design, implementation, and analysis of qualitative research projects.
- Experience of conducting interviews with high-status respondents.
- Knowledge of, or experience in, the Scottish criminal justice system.
Desirable criteria:
- Experience of research in the field of sexual offences.
All temporary workers must be cleared to the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Candidates must also obtain a standard level disclosure check prior to commencement.
