Freedom of Information Officer - Contract Opportunity
Harvey Nash's public sector client is recruiting an experienced Freedom of Information Officer to lead and manage FOI compliance, strategy, and operational processes. This role is ideal for someone with strong Information Governance expertise and the ability to interpret and apply FOI and Data Protection legislation in a complex environment.
This is a fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the organisation's primary FOI contact and practitioner, liaising with internal teams and external bodies.
- Develop and implement the organisation's FOI strategy, policies, and procedures.
- Analyse and prepare responses to complex FOI requests in line with legislation, guidance, and case law.
- Implement change control measures to improve FOI processes.
- Produce and maintain FOI user guides, training materials, and deliver specialist training sessions.
- Ensure alignment between FOI processes, Records Management, and Data Protection standards.
- Provide regular progress reports and collaborate with departments on FOI-related work.
- Participate in governance groups and contribute to policy development.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to stay informed on legislative developments.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Degree-level qualification or recognised Privacy Management certification.
- Strong knowledge of Data Protection, Information Governance, and Information Security.
- Proven experience developing and implementing strategy and policy.
- Ability to engage and present to senior stakeholders.
- Strong integrity, leadership, and organisational skills.

- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- High attention to detail and strong logical problem-solving abilities.
- Commercial awareness.
