We're supporting a leading global organisation as they continue to invest in the development of large-scale, high-availability digital platforms and are looking to add an experienced Senior Software Engineer to their team.
This is an opportunity to work on complex, enterprise-scale systems that process significant transaction volumes, leveraging modern engineering practices, event-driven architecture, and AI-assisted development tools.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and building scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Developing microservices and REST APIs within distributed systems environments
- Working with event-driven architectures using Kafka
- Contributing to architecture, design decisions, and technical best practices
- Collaborating within Agile engineering teams
- Driving quality through CI/CD, monitoring, and automation
Experience required
✅ Strong Java development experience
✅ Spring Boot and Microservices
✅ REST API development
✅ Kafka and event-driven architecture
✅ Oracle or similar relational databases
✅ CI/CD and Git-based development
✅ Experience working on large-scale distributed systems
✅ Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Co-pilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.)
Nice to have
- Axon Framework
- PCF / Cloud platforms
- Splunk, Dynatrace or similar monitoring tools
- Payments, fintech or highly regulated industry experience
- React or other frontend technologies
