Site Reliability Engineer - Public Sector - Outside IR35 - Edinburgh (Hybrid)

Day Rate - up to £560 (outside IR35)

Duration - 6 months

Harvey Nash's Client are hiring an experienced SRE, to support and enhance an existing digital platform.

Responsibilities

  • Support deployment and migration for services to RHEL8/9
  • Develop and strengthen automation to support disaster recovery activities
  • Support for existing & new UNIX infrastructure
  • Optimisation of existing services & infrastructure
  • Support and deploy Ansible Automation Platform
  • Support Oracle Database 19c on Oracle Linux. On KVM
  • Support logging and observability stacks inc time series databases
  • Promote SLO/SLI measurement & Tracking
  • Support pipeline enhancements and deployments
  • Engage and provide guidance to external teams on service consumption

Skills & Experience Required

Significant and demonstrable commercial experience of the following:

  • Unix
    • RHEL 7/8/9 System administration
    • Red Hat Satellite administration
    • Automation - IAC Principles
    • Load Balancer technologies, e.g. HAProxy and keepalived
    • Shell scripting, specifically Bash and Perl

Strong experience with container creation and management

  • Docker, and various run time environments
  • RHEL OpenShift or within Kubernetes environment - system administration

Experience working with a CI/CD driven hybrid environment

  • Knowledge of IAC principles and continuous development
  • Knowledge and experience working with Git reversion control
  • Pipeline configuration and deployment, Ansible Automation Platform / Git
  • runners etc

Experience with Monitoring and observability

  • Deployment and configuration of Prometheus/Grafana/Cloudwatch
  • Time series Database experience with Influx
  • Full stack administration - TICK / elastic search / open search / Fluentd

Experience of AWS Cloud based services

  • Configuration and deployment of common AWS services, VPC, EC2, S3, NLB
  • IAC approaches to AWS automation i.e. Terraform, CDK
