Infrastructure Engineer - Inside IR35 - Glasgow - Hybrid
Day Rate - up to £465

Harvey Nash's FS Client are looking to bring in a contract Infrastructure Engineerf, you will be onsite 3 days per week in Glasgow, sitting within the Ops team, you will carry out tasks such as:
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and automate configuration management for a large-scale, global VCF-based virtualization platform
- using Python and Ansible.
- Engineer and integrate APIs to provide infrastructure-on-demand and seamless interaction between on-prem and third[1]party tools.
- Lead lab-based testing, certification, and integration of new hardware and software components into existing
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and architect scalable, resilient solutions.
- Ensure technical alignment with both vendor best practices and internal standards for reliability, automation, and security.
- Work independently to deliver on aggressive project timelines and resolve complex technical challenges.
Skills & Experience Required
- Extensive experience automating infrastructure tasks (installation, configuration, management) using Python.
- Hands-on experience with automation frameworks (Ansible, Python) and Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Deep understanding of virtualization technologies, ideally VMWare Cloud Foundation (VCF) or vSphere.
- Strong technical fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, Linux, distributed systems.
- Experience integrating APIs and automating workflows across hybrid infrastructure stacks.
- Familiarity with software version control, CI/CD pipelines, and modern SDLC practices.
- Desired Skills:
- Hands-on expertise with VMware's suite (VCF, vSphere, vSAN) in both greenfield and brownfield rollout scenarios.
- Knowledge of software testing methodologies for infrastructure automation.
- Experience with other programming languages (e.g., Go, PowerShell, Bash).Strong communication skills as you will be expected to develop relationships with the Business Unit, internal stakeholders & the Vendor
- An understanding of escalation
- An ability to handle working in a pressurised environment
- A desire to question existing procedures and continually seek to improve processes.
