Network Engineer - Multi‑Site Transformation Programme
£475 p/d (Inside IR35)
12-month contract (Remote, with some travel)
Join a major multisite network transformation programme, leading critical upgrades and modernisation across SD‑WAN, LAN, Wi‑Fi and security services. You'll take ownership of key early‑phase projects including migration of internet and Azure traffic to a new SD‑WAN platform, rollout of a new VPN solution, estate‑wide LAN hardware/software upgrades across 50+ sites, and a full Wi‑Fi modernisation (new controllers, AP deployment, coverage expansion). Further pipeline work includes F5, data centre exit, ISE upgrade/replacement and wider management system enhancements.
What You'll Do
- Shape and deliver network design and strategy across SD‑WAN, Wi‑Fi and LAN, then lead hands‑on implementation.
- Provide expert technical guidance on infrastructure design, ensuring alignment with enterprise principles and PSN compliance.
- Represent the Networks team across internal/external forums, CAB meetings and programme boards.
- Contribute to long‑term network roadmaps aligned to 3‑ and 5‑year business plans.
- Advise on best practice, service improvements and operational optimisation across SCTS and partner organisations.
- Stay ahead of market trends and emerging technologies to influence future service development.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong, current hands‑on experience with Cisco technologies (2960X/XR, 4500, 9000 series, Nexus).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot physical network infrastructure and manage high‑availability Cisco environments.
- Knowledge across Cisco networking, Unified Comms, WLC, F5 VPN/Silverline/XC, IPsec tunnels and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Experience implementing and using network monitoring solutions.
- Load‑balancing design experience (F5 or similar).
- Collaborative approach, able to work effectively with IT and operational teams.
