Digital Project Manager - Communications / Intranet Projects (Public Sector)

We are seeking an experienced Digital Project Manager to lead the end‑to‑end delivery of communication and/or intranet-focused digital projects within a government or wider public sector environment. This role suits a contractor who is confident managing complex multi‑team delivery, balancing governance with agility, and shaping effective digital solutions from discovery through to go-live.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage digital projects end-to-end, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, budgets and quality standards.
  • Own and manage project plans, risks, issues and dependencies, escalating appropriately.
  • Foster collaboration across teams, creating a positive, high-performing environment and effectively managing conflict where required.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across internal teams and third‑party suppliers, proactively identifying risks and managing expectations.
  • Track project progress and financials, producing clear and accurate reporting for governance boards and senior stakeholders.
  • Lead project governance and change control processes, ensuring cross‑project impacts are understood and managed.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently across all stakeholder groups, tailoring messaging to suit different audiences and ensuring alignment with wider digital communications.
  • Act as the main point of contact for external/third‑party suppliers.
  • Deliver across all phases: Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live.

Essential Experience

  • Proven track record delivering digital projects within government or public sector settings.
  • Experience delivering communication and/or intranet projects.
  • Strong leadership capability with experience guiding multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrable experience working collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and modern digital delivery practices.
  • Ability to apply appropriate project management tools, techniques and documentation.
  • Skilled in defining delivery approaches, creating realistic project plans (including risk, quality and communication plans), and managing stakeholders throughout the lifecycle.
