Portfolio Finance Analyst
6 Month Contract - Reading
Up to £550 p/d (Inside)
We are seeking a Portfolio Finance Analyst to support a large IT change portfolio. This role will focus on maintaining strong financial controls, managing project budgets, and providing cost accounting across a portfolio of 100+ projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver financial control across the IT project portfolio, including budget tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support annual budgeting and roadmapping for IT projects
- Provide financial support to project teams (budget management, POs, reconciliations, project close)
- Ensure adherence to governance and financial reporting standards
- Review and challenge funding requests to ensure alignment with approved budgets
- Partner with project managers and stakeholders to monitor and improve financial performance
- Contribute to project and portfolio review meetings, highlighting financial risks and insights
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of project cost accounting principles
- Experience supporting project or portfolio budgeting cycles
- Background within PMO / Portfolio Office environments
- Strong Excel skills
- Familiarity with Oracle Project Cost Accounting (or similar) desirable
- Good understanding of project lifecycle delivery and governance frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement
- Able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- High attention to detail and proactive mindset
- Collaborative team player with strong influencing skills
