Scrum Master - Public Sector - Inside IR35 - Glasgow/Hybrid
Day Rate - up to £450
Duration - 9 months
Harvey Nash are supporting a key client in sourcing an experienced Scrum Master to enable effective Agile delivery across one or more multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in coaching teams, facilitating Scrum ceremonies, and driving continuous improvement to ensure high-quality, value-driven outcomes aligned to organisational objectives. This role requires 2 days onsite per week in Glasgow.
Working closely with Product Owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and stakeholders, you will ensure Agile principles are embedded consistently while improving team flow, predictability, and delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate core Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives, ensuring sessions are effective and outcome-focused
- Coach teams on Agile principles, values, and best practice, supporting team maturity and self-organisation
- Identify, manage, and remove delivery impediments and blockers
- Support backlog refinement, prioritisation, and sprint planning alongside Product Owners and data specialists
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement using retrospectives, metrics, and actionable insights
- Shield teams from external disruption, enabling focus and sustainable delivery
- Support estimation, capacity planning, and dependency management
- Use Agile metrics (e.g. velocity, cycle time, throughput) to drive transparency and continuous improvement
- Foster collaboration, openness, and constructive challenge across teams and stakeholders
- Contribute to wider Agile adoption, mentoring colleagues and sharing best practice
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience operating as a Scrum Master or in a similar Agile delivery role (2-5+ years)
- Strong coaching and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence without authority
- Experience working within multidisciplinary Agile teams across the full delivery lifecycle
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills (technical and non-technical audiences)
- Experience using Agile delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Ability to use data and metrics to support team performance and continuous improvement
Additional Information
- Experience working with data-focused teams or data products is highly desirable
- Background in complex, fast-paced environments with multiple stakeholders is advantageous
