The Role

We are seeking an experienced Life400 Developer to join a team responsible for the design, development, maintenance and support of critical business applications.

You will have end-to-end SDLC experience, from requirements and development through to testing, deployment and production support. You will work closely with technical and business stakeholders to deliver robust, high-quality solutions within agreed timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and support applications using Life400 / AS400 / IBM iSeries.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Life400 SQL, Smart and COBOL.
  • Analyse and resolve complex development requirements and production defects.
  • Make code changes and manage code reviews, QA, UAT and production releases in line with the SDLC.
  • Prepare technical and project documentation and artefacts.
  • Work closely with Solution Architects, Project Managers, Product Owners and Developers.
  • Liaise with system users, IT teams, product management and external service providers.
  • Support testing by defining and executing tests to validate new processes.
  • Analyse data, identify trends and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Provide technical and business support throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Advocate continuous integration, delivery and quality assurance.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and delivery partners.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Life400 Developer with strong AS400 / IBM iSeries knowledge.
  • Excellent Life400, SQL, Smart and COBOL development skills.
  • Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
  • Experience delivering projects using Agile, Hybrid and/or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience working with technical and business teams to translate requirements into functional and technical solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, MS Office and Visio.
  • Understanding of change management principles and processes.
  • Knowledge of data management, integration, data quality and validation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Financial Services or Insurance experience is highly desirable.

Desirable

  • Degree or relevant qualification in IT.
  • Experience with Mainframe, AS400, COBOL and SQL development.
  • IBM WebSphere and MSP experience.
  • Experience writing technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of the Financial Services sector.
  • Experience delivering high-quality solutions to tight project deadlines.
