The role offers a blend of BAU support, database engineering and ongoing improvement initiatives, providing the opportunity to influence best practice and strengthen the organisation's database capability.This is very much an Oracle-focused position, requiring someone who can confidently manage complex database environments while helping to maintain the availability, security and performance of critical systems.<h3>Key Responsibilities:</h3><ul><li>Administration, monitoring and support of a large Oracle database estate</li><li>Management of Oracle Data Guard environments</li><li>Backup, recovery, disaster recovery and business continuity planning</li><li>Database performance monitoring, tuning and optimisation</li><li>Database cloning, patching, upgrades and ongoing maintenance</li><li>Supporting daily production database cloning activities</li><li>Managing Oracle databases hosted on Red Hat Linux</li><li>Troubleshooting incidents and resolving database-related issues</li><li>Working closely with infrastructure and application support teams to maintain service availability</li></ul><h3>Essential Skills &amp; Experience:</h3><ul><li>Proven commercial experience as an Oracle DBA</li><li>Strong expertise in Oracle Database Administration</li><li>Experience managing Oracle Data Guard environments</li><li>Knowledge of backup, recovery, disaster recovery and performance management</li><li>Experience with database cloning, migrations, patching and maintenance</li><li>Experience supporting Oracle environments on Red Hat Linux</li><li>Ability to work independently and take ownership of database services</li><li>Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills</li></ul><h3>Desirable Skills:</h3><ul><li>SQL Server Administration experience</li><li>Exposure to:<ul><li>DNS</li><li>Active Directory</li><li>Server Administration</li><li>Infrastructure Support</li></ul></li><li>Comfortable contributing to wider infrastructure activities when required</li></ul><h3>Working Arrangements:</h3><ul><li>Hybrid working model</li><li>Mandatory onsite attendance every Thursday</li><li>Infrastructure teams typically work onsite two or more days per week</li></ul><h3>About You:</h3>We're looking for a genuine Oracle DBA specialist who enjoys working in a complex technical environment and takes pride in delivering stable, reliable database services.
