AI Development Platform Engineer | 6 Month Contract | (Inside IR35) | Hybrid, Glasgow (3 days PW) | Starting ASAP

About the Role:

This role is for a platform engineer who will help build a firmwide AI Development Platform and drive adoption of AI capabilities throughout the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience of building software platforms on Kubernetes, API-based development, REST frameworks, data engineering, and large-scale API Gateway environments. Knowledge of AI/ML and hands-on experience implementing solutions using Generative AI are also preferable.

Main Duties:

  • Develop tooling and self-service capabilities for deploying AI solutions.
  • Enhance the developer experience for AI application deployment.
  • Build reusable solutions to scale Generative AI use cases.
  • Use Kubernetes/OpenShift for containerized workloads.
  • Work with container registries, Helm, Kustomize, and GitOps.
  • Integrate with large-scale vector stores for embeddings.
  • Author best practices for Generative AI tools and models.
  • Implement GenAI solutions with a focus on Agentic Orchestration.
  • Contribute to design decisions and product selection.
  • Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong application development in Python (Flask or FastAPI preferred).
  • Broad understanding of data engineering and governance.
  • Kubernetes workload management (OpenShift preferred).
  • RESTful service development for enterprise solutions.
  • Experience with multiprocessing, async I/O, and performance profiling.
  • Unit testing, performance testing, and BDD.
  • Understanding of OAuth 2.0 and secure authorization.
  • Proficiency with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, etc.).
  • DevOps and CI/CD (Jenkins, GitOps).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of deep learning and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Secure coding practices and cloud-native application development.

Desirable Skills:

  • Microservices architecture and cloud deployment patterns.
  • Modern application configuration techniques.
  • Experience with distributed state sharing and caching.
  • Knowledge of various DB engines (SQL, Redis, Kafka).
  • Experience with Generative AI and LLM-based applications.
  • Familiarity with AI agents and orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph).
  • Experience with embeddings and fine-tuning GenAI models.
  • Understanding of ModelOps/ML Ops/LLM Ops.
  • Familiarity with SRE techniques.
