Business Analyst

6-month contract Hybrid (Perth/Glasgow Remote)

This organisation plays a key role in the UK energy market, trading commodities and supporting value delivery across a diverse portfolio of generation assets. The Business Analyst will work across product teams to define requirements, support delivery, and ensure solutions meet business needs in a fast‑moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements & Analysis: Lead requirements gathering, clarification, and documentation; translate business needs into clear, structured specifications across the end‑to‑end product lifecycle.
  • Backlog Ownership: Manage and deliver analysis backlog items within an Agile framework, including data/information modelling, supporting training material development, and contributing to lean business cases.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation; facilitate discussions to define scope, priorities, and solution options.
  • Agile Delivery: Work closely with the Product Owner to understand and balance competing requirements; support sprint planning, prioritisation, and review processes.
  • Process Design: Assess impacts and lead the design of business processes to ensure alignment with new functionality and operating models.
  • Communication & Reporting: Present complex business and technical concepts in a clear, accessible way; produce concise, tailored reports on processes, risks, and delivery progress.
  • Risk & Assurance: Identify, assess, and evaluate business and IT risks to support informed decision‑making and solution quality.

Experience & Skills

  • Strong experience as a Business Analyst within the gas/electricity industry, knowledge of trading environments is advantageous.
  • Demonstrable track record working in Agile product teams; Azure DevOps experience preferred.
  • Skilled in requirements definition, process mapping, data modelling, and stakeholder facilitation.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and adaptable, able to operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
