Interim Director of Finance

£650 p/d (Inside IR35)
We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join a major Scottish public sector organisation on an interim basis. Reporting to the Chief Executive and forming part of the Executive Leadership Team, you will provide strategic financial leadership across a complex organisation with an annual budget of approximately £500m.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Finance and Procurement functions.
- Provide strategic financial advice to the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team.
- Oversee financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, risk management and governance.
- Lead annual budget-setting and spending review processes.
- Manage relationships with government stakeholders and external auditors.
- Oversee statutory accounts and financial compliance activities.
- Support major transformation and organisational change programmes.
- Ensure value for money, accountability and effective stewardship of public funds.
Essential Skills & Experience
- CCAB-qualified accountant with current membership of a recognised professional accountancy body and up-to-date CPD.
- Significant senior finance leadership experience within a large, complex organisation.
- Proven experience managing substantial budgets and financial planning processes.
- Strong understanding of public sector governance, audit and financial controls.
- Experience providing strategic advice at Executive or Board level.
- Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
Desirable
- Public sector or government experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale transformation programmes.
