SWIFT / Payments Project Manager
To provide project management on IT investment projects and workstreams.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of assigned medium-large IT programmes/projects from initiation through to implementation and closure.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budgets, resources and RAIDs in accordance with governance standards and prepare associated project artefacts.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including Technology, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Information Security, Architecture and Business stakeholders, building relationships across multiple offices and regions
- Managing internal and external resources in a matrix organisation project structure.
- Work with business sponsors, PMO and HO liaison teams to build out business cases/ROI allowing for projects to be prioritised and launched locally or with Head Office.
- Drive implementation and enhancement of payment solutions covering SWIFT messaging, core banking, cash management and payment processing platforms.
- Ensure compliance with SWIFT standards, market infrastructure requirements, regulatory obligations and internal controls.
- Facilitate project governance forums, steering committees and stakeholder reporting, providing clear visibility of delivery status and risks.
- Vendor management including negotiating statements of work, contracts and service level agreements.
- Lead testing, cutover planning, deployment, and post-implementation support activities.
- Identify and manage project dependencies across multiple programmes and business initiatives.
- Support business change activities, process improvements, and operational readiness for payment-related services.
- Contribute to and/or lead continuous improvement of IT processes and policy.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in delivering IT projects/programmes with proven experience of delivering Payments and SWIFT initiatives within banking or financial services environments.
- Strong understanding of SWIFT standards and messaging, including MT and ISO 20022 migration programmes.
- Proven track record implementing MX messaging formats (pacs, camt, pain).
- Strong understanding of high-value payment systems (SEPA,Target2, CHAPS)
- Experience delivering projects involving cross-border payments, settlement, liquidity management or payment operations.
- Familiarity with payment hubs, sanctions screening, AML controls, and reconciliation processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex technology and business change projects in a regulated environment.
- Good understanding and experience of end-to-end project management methodologies including Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid deliveries.
- Excellent risk and dependency management capabilities across multiple workstreams.
- Identifies technical delivery bottlenecks, compliance risks and operational impacts and proven experience in bringing people together to find credible and timely solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Relevant Project management qualification (APM, PMP etc).
