Job Description:
Opportunity to join the Markets Non-Financial Risk Management Transaction Monitoring Implementation team in Belfast as a data analyst. The role will require the successful candidate to lead all data related aspects for projects to build or improve market abuse surveillance controls and other regulatory controls. The role is within a fast-paced environment aided by a highly skilled and experienced team with a proven track record of delivery.
The role will provide the successful candidate with a fantastic development opportunity to join a growing area of over 20 employees based in Belfast and over 50 globally, working daily with ex-traders with over 200+ years of aggregated Markets trading experience and innovative technology partners producing industry leading controls.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supporting multiple risk and control projects including gathering data requirements, locating the required data sets and writing queries to extract the data.
- Documenting the data sets and filtering used along with associated rationale.
- Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members for the data sets that are consumed by controls in Transaction Monitoring.
- Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
- Works closely with business partners on findings and makes recommendations on improving practices.
- Leverages data to examine impact to end users and can determine root cause for data related issues.
- Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding the bank, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- 4-8 years relevant work experience working as a business or data analyst.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience of writing SQL is essential.
- Knowledge of financial instruments, particularly bonds and derivatives and relevant data attributes is highly desirable.
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective organizational influencing skills required.
- Experience of working as part of a team based in different regions.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Ability to see the big picture yet retain attention to critical details.
Education:
- Bachelor's/Master's University degree or equivalent experience
