About the role:
ISD delivers and supports an enterprise portfolio of efficient, resilient, innovative and secure IT services to meet the business needs. ISD will play a crucial role in implementing the digital strategy by developing sustainable digital and information solutions that modernise, innovate and transform the delivery of user focused services and to improve the way our organisation works.
The primary purpose of this role is to lead, oversee and support critical inflight projects, ensuring successful delivery, with regards to our digital transformation portfolio, including:
Project 1
- Future product development, providing an improved service and user experience for Defence Agents.
Project 2
- This Programme will modernise how the client manages and uses corporate information. It is focused on improving governance, compliance, and enabling data-driven practices through advanced digital tools.
- Central to the programme is a global information architecture using SharePoint alongside Microsoft Purview to further enhance govern corporate information. Files are being migrated from on-premise shared drives to new departmental Hubs Sites to streamline document handling.
- At the same time, through Microsoft 365 apps, Power Apps, Power BI, and Copilot, the Programme will enhance collaboration, unlock the full potential of data, drive productivity gains, deliver superior services, improve operational efficiency, and build organisational resilience.
Project 3
- Migrating Case Management environments from AIX to an x86 based Cloud Ready platform
- Java applications to be moved to OpenJDK
The duties of the posts will include:
- Putting in place professional, robust and effective project management mechanisms and documentation to control, manage and deliver assigned IT and digital projects successfully. This includes supporting the team with effectively estimating timelines and adhering to plans.
- Facilitate and support sprint planning meetings, ensuring BA's, Testers, Developers and Transformation understand the requirements, how they are being built/tested and the impact to end users.
- Facilitate and direct project team members throughout the project life cycle, and engage with project and technical staff, stakeholders and suppliers to design, control and deliver the desired project outcomes.
- Ensure detailed tracking of project plans, providing status reports and other required communications to highlight progress against agreed baseline plans and to ensure project delivery transparency and assured progression through project lifecycles.
Essential Criteria
- You will be qualified in project management and have experience in all aspects of the project lifecycle.
- You will be experienced and comfortable in operating in both an agile and a waterfall environment. You will be experienced in running sprint planning sessions and directing the team through the sprints to ensure delivery.
- You will have experience delivering complex and wide-ranging IT business projects across digital programme portfolio.
- You are an experienced communicator, with a strong ability in bringing people together to achieved joint outcomes.
- You will have experience of engaging authoritatively and effectively with IT and business colleagues as well as and external partners to devise and plan the required solutions, tasks and activities.
- You will have experience of successfully delivery of custom-built applications, working through the lifecycle to deliver value to business stakeholders
